Now in the Silicon Valley
A few weeks ago I was wondering around a mall on an island. As I entered, I noticed a woman walking along with the corner of her cell phone put to her temple. She had a kid who somehow tagged along. It isn't unusual to see people starring at cell phones in public places. It is more noticeable these days to see someone who isn't. I wondered what she was listening too. I even thought that she was a mom with a kid trying to run a business. Could it be? I made my way past her and picked up some groceries, all without a single glance at a phone. Then I headed to KFC for lunch and as I sat eating, she appeared once again. Her right arm was angled up, her elbow pointing to the floor and her hand was exactly horizontal, and on top of it sat her phone. This was a bit weird to me in and of itself, but then i saw her place her phone on the table before she went to the counter to order.
